The results have been excellent, and it just shows how the temp gauge on an oven shouldn't be trusted. I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about cooking. The unit bleeped after about 50 minutes, the roast removed and left to rest.
The roast was nicely cooked, the outer chicked was well cooked and the filling of ostrich was just done - overcooking makes it tough!

There are options for beef, lamb, pork, chicken and manual. Beef and lamb allow for rare to well done and all temperatures are set automatically. Manual allows for user setting of target temperature or time(included in booklet), when reached the alarm goes off - reasonably loud electronic bleep.

Saved my Christmas!

Rating: 4 / 5 Ordered the Meat Thermometer on 17/12(thursday before Xmas!) to ease problem with a ‘Chicken and Ostrich Crown’ for which I had no cooking advice.

Given that I only live about 50 feet above sea level, I expected a reading somewhat closer to 100 degrees C!!

Not overly impressed by the display, but in fairness it's pretty much as in the picture. You have to slide in a plastic sheet, which goes between the display and the outer screen, in order to 'read' the display in English (or several other languages) but it's quite difficult to get it in fully, which you have to do to get the words to line up with the display options (and impossible to get it out again).

I've requested a replacement, but if that reads incorrectly, then I'll give up.
